John C. Hooper, Jr. (1918-2001), lived in Beaumont most of his life, and owned a small business, Hooper Graphic Arts. He married Mary Jane Langham in 1941, and they had six children. John was an avid photographer of the Beaumont area, and also collected old photographs. This small collection of thirty photographs depicts Beaumont in the early twentieth century, from approximately 1903 to the 1950s. Included are photographs of the original central fire station, torn down in 1903; "Lovers' Lane," which ran near the O'Brien mansion; the old police station; aerial views of the city; the Harvest Club; South Park High School; and Saint Anthony High School.
